"But, really, why does anyone create? You feel a... a restlessness inside, a need to make something new, something no one has ever seen before. You want to add to the beauty and the richness of the world with a gift, an offering that is uniquely yours. It's an act of selfishness and generosity, all rolled into one."

Finished Coasters

More or less finished, anyway. I originally did a poor job centering the "Carnival" motif on its backing, so I tried pulling it off and redoing it. Needless to say, this rendered the adhesive on the coaster components useless, so I tried fixing it with glue. Didn't work. I was able to make it look presentable for the photo, but if I were to pick the coaster up, the cork bottom would fall off. I will have to get another coaster and do it all over. Since the coasters are sold in sets of four, I will also try to redo the "Alladin" one to center it better. Me and my perfectionism. Don't worry, the tatting is undamaged.

In the meantime, I have started the tatting for the next set. I think Diane will like this one.

  1. Lucky recipient of those four coasters.
    Love the all-blue motif!

  2. Your coasters are beautiful! I understand your need for perfectionism. After all, it's something you'll look at often. Still, a blind man on a galloping horse would never notice... so says my mom!

Ooh! Masquerade in blue! Yes, indeed... I am looking forward to this set! ; )

I have a ton of acrylic coasters that I bought several years ago. I only finished a few, because I became frustrated with the fact that the cork back didn't stay attached.

Years ago, I used glass coasters for cross-stitch pieces, and they stayed together much better. They're very pricey, though.

  3. They are looking lovely, And the designs are gorgeous, well done,
I do like your next motif design

  4. the coasters have come out very nicely. the new motif is a beauty!

  5. Awesome looking coasters, Miranda! Lovely!

Those plastic coasters are a real pain. I had the same problems with them and I do not have a solution. The backings never stay on. Crazy glue?
    Fox : )

  6. I love these coasters - and your motifs look great!

  7. I love the look of the new motif.

  8. I think your coaster look wonderful!!! And the blue motif is awesome too!! :)

  9. Very festive! I struggle with that same perfectionism. It flows over to my business, too, because I can't sell it if it isn't perfect! Needless to say, there are always a few I get to keep. LOL

  10. What a great idea! You've chosen some very pretty motifs to use, too. I need to hunt down some of those coasters.
