Fandango Revisited

Jane Eborall's Fandango Bookmark:


I used Lizbeth colors 142 Turquoise Twist and 632 Medium Purple. I like the way it came out, although I was a little disappointed in the Turquoise Twist; I would have preferred a more gradual change from dark to light and back.

As usual, I made up a tail; this one includes all the same stitches as the last one, with the addition of a couple of small single-shuttle split rings; on these, I carried the other shuttle through as a second core thread in the first half of the SSSR. Naturally, I finished it off with a Fandango Motif.

Amazingly, this time I managed to do the Fandango without getting that god-awful Queen song stuck in my head again. However, what I am tatting now has got me stuck on yet another song...

    So pretty - I must try thebookmark as I have done the square... The tail does intimidate me, howver, bigtime! Lovely tatting, Miranda, as usual, and wonderful thread.

    Your Fandango motif and bookmark inspire me to try one of my own, using Turquoise Twist and Peacock Blues.

    I am not at all unhappy with your Turquoise Twist/Medium Purple combination; it looks lovely! The color values are nicely balanced, even if the Turquoise Twist color changes weren't as gradual as you would have liked. Such a pretty bookmark!

    Fox, you don't have to do a tail at all, but if you want one you can always keep it simple, like just a lock stitch chain, or just a spiral chain, or just a row of split rings. I only did all this because I was getting bored with bookmark tails!

    Isdihara, I didn't mean to imply that I wasn't happy with it! It doesn't look quite like I thought it would, but it does look good, and the more I look at it, the more I like it. Can't wait to see yours!

    I just clicked to your site this morning and saw your new header!! Wonderful! I love seeing your sweet cardinal! He is a brilliant design (not just the colors!) and I enjoyed tatting him. I see him every day sitting in his little frame near the TV set, and he always makes me smile!

    Of course, I initially came over to comment on this fabulous bookmark! A wonderful tribute to Jane's design and Val's single motif, further enhanced by the split ring 2-color effect. These are fabulous colors and beautifully tatted (as usual), with the unique tassel.
