"But, really, why does anyone create? You feel a... a restlessness inside, a need to make something new, something no one has ever seen before. You want to add to the beauty and the richness of the world with a gift, an offering that is uniquely yours. It's an act of selfishness and generosity, all rolled into one."

Cat and Mouse

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a box of 4 dozen toy mice, because Squijum will go through them all eventually, and it's cheaper to buy them this way. I put the box on top of the fridge; he had never gotten up there, so I figured that way I could just give him a couple of mice at a time. The next morning, I got home from work to find the box on the floor and mice strewn from hither to yon. The little cutie-pie has been on top of the fridge every day since then.

This is relevent to a tatting blog because I was thinking that I could try putting my tatting up there while it's on the blocking board, and he wouldn't try to eat the pins. That won't work anymore. There's still a bookshelf that I don't *think* he can get all the way to the top of, so I'll have to try that next.

And he looks so sweet and innocent.

Well, he is very sweet, if not entirely innocent.

I guess it's not nice to take a flash picture of someone who just woke up. Sorry.

  2. Adorable! If Squijum had a pink nose he'd practically be a dead ringer for my Gaston!

Just a little safety note on those mice: we had those same mice for our cats. One of the cats LOVED them to the point of trying to eat one, which got stuck in his throat b/c it was too big for him to swallow! Dad managed to pull the mouse out, and no lasting damage. Just thought I'd give you a heads up ....could just be we have a stupid cat :)

  3. Awww Squijum and Pippa would have a time on top of that refrigerator. I now have things in drawers that I’d never thought to put there before. Such inventive creatures, our cats ~ and yes, not entirely innocent...
and they are drawn to metal objects. Pippa’s latest is pulling the antenna out of the phone. Don’t know who she plans on calling...perhaps Squijum. LOL bj

  4. Oh, my, what an ornery kitty - but I think most are! At least you found out he can get there with the mice instead of your blocking board. You have a pretty kitty.

  5. just what is it with our crazy cats and our tatting pins? I wake up in the mornings, regardless of where I put my tatting, and find pins strewn about the entire house. I have watched her literally sit and pick every pin out of the blocking board, and then watched her pick up a pin and run off with it like she just found a buried treasure in an Egyptian Tomb! Even looking at me to say, hahaha, it is mine and you can't stop me from having it, zip-zoom she is gone!
