AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Three days I've worked on this thing. Three days, I tell you, and there's still another round to go.
And as I was sewing the ends in on this round, THE CORE THREAD ON ONE OF THE CHAINS BROKE. Yes, that is shouting, and I'm stamping my feet, too.

Can you believe it? There is absolutely no way to fix this. I don't even understand how it happened. The frustration is beyond my ability to express.

So, this was supposed to be motif 49 from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito. Believe it or not, what you see here is all one round. The next round would have been an outline chain, and would have held the points more evenly. But there's no point in finishing it now. Grrrrrrr.

Oh, and Merry Christmas. :)

  1. Oh, Miranda! I am so sorry that your frustration and eruption of temper has only elicited explosive chuckling and a fit of giggles from moi!

That is a bummer! It looks beautiful - and you were doing an amazing job. Maybe you have re-thought it and have joined a new thread.... maybe not. Ahem...

Well, Merry Christmas anyway! Have a good one!

  3. Fox, I wish I could simply join a new thread and retat that chain. The problem is, it's sort of two chains in one; first one color and then another are tatted over the same core thread. So in order to remake it, I would have to join three new threads. That's six ends to hide. It would just end up as a lumpy, mis-shapen mess, and I would be even more unhappy with it!

  4. I hate it when that happens, I'm tatting a simple cross (for the third time) that I swear was not meant to be.

  5. Is it possible to cut it back to a ring and make a planned join; encapsulating. Depending on the size of the thread, it might not be Lumpy. Also decreasing the number of stitches when encapsulating sometimes helps (a Mary Konier trick. Seems a shame to loose so much work, my heart goes out to you. Especially such nice work. Just thinking out loud here…I guess I'd try a bunch of things and see what worked…Or begin again AGGHHHHHH indeed! hugs, bj

  9. I think it is absolutely beautiful so far, can you stop where it is and stiffen it, and frame it? there is a lot of work there, maybe there is a way to make something of it how it is? even with the broken thread I am envious, it is really beautiful!!!

Have a wonderful holiday anyhow, and pick it up after you are done enjoying your gifts from santa, maybe he will bring you some goodies to take your mind off it :D
